With nearly 30 years of experience in health IT management, Susan Rand understands well how data can be transformed into meaningful information that supports healthcare improvements.
Susan heads Gevity’s Business Intelligence Branch, leading and influencing initiatives to show how the investment in eHealth, and the improved data that results, can transform healthcare delivery. She is expert at building and guiding teams to successfully deliver quality projects that meet client needs and expectations.
Susan has spent the last 20 years as a consultant working in health analytics, health information management, public health and First Nations health. Susan gained experience at the provincial level across Canada, and at the federal level partnering with the Canadian Institute for Health Information, the Western Health Information Collaborative, Canada Health Infoway and the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch.
The chance to travel and work overseas is what enticed Susan to join Gevity, when she was offered the chance to establish Gevity’s presence in the Asia Pacific region. Based in Cebu City, Philippines, Susan traveled throughout Southeast Asia and was excited to share her perspective with developing countries’ health professionals new to the practice of health informatics.
When not working, Susan enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. An avid carnivore all her life, she is now happily experimenting with cooking and eating many more vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Susan holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Victoria (Canada) and maintains the CPHIMS-CA (Certified Professional in Health Informatics) certification.
