Valerie Lukac is recognized as a strategic thinker and transformative leader. She currently manages Gevity’s Health System Optimization Practice, which strives to evolve the heathcare system towards higher performing health facilities, improved quality, safety and better patient outcomes.
Over a career spanning more than 15 years in healthcare, she has become known for driving projects to desired results. Key to Valerie’s multiple successes are her skills in financial modeling and complex analytics. Valerie is also known for her adaptability, her decision-making ability, and her knack for rallying team members to pursue successful outcomes.
Fluent in English, French and Spanish, Valerie has held active management positions in academic healthcare centers and hospitals in three countries (Canada, the US and Mexico), where she has established and successfully conducted strategic planning and business process mapping, developed Centres of Excellence and optimized performance. In her previous role as national investment program director at Canada Health Infoway, Valerie was responsible for overseeing all programs related to deploying the electronic health record strategy, in collaboration with the Canadian provinces.
When she manages to break away from her desk, Valerie appreciates outdoor adventures; hiking mountains in British Columbia, mountain biking and camping. She also enjoys playing the guitar. Valerie holds an active lectureship appointment with Yale University’s School of Public Health, travelling recently to Africa to teach leadership, management and governance to senior leaders of six francophone African countries.
Valerie holds a BSc in Biology from Tufts University (US), a Masters in Public Health from Yale University (US), and an MBA from McGill University (Canada). She also maintains a certification in project management (PMP), is a Certified Professional in Health Information Management Systems (CPHIMS), is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and has completed the Prosci Change Management Certification.
